C.P. Group Donates Baht 222 Million to Support China’s Efforts in Combating the Coronavirus
Recently, the Charoen Pokphand Group (C.P. Group) in China provided Baht 222 million worth of assistance to support the Chinese government’s fight against the latest outbreak of the Coronavirus strain causing pneumonia-like respiratory illness, especially in the city of Wuhan, Hubei province in the People’s Republic of China. 33 tons of disinfectants worth RMB 1.2 million will be donated to Hubei province and distributed to hospitals, relevant governmental units by the Red Cross Society of Hubei.
In this regard,Mr. Dhanin Chearavanont, Senior Chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group, and Mr. Soopakij Chearavanont, Chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group, state that C.P. Group is fervently expediting financial assistance and consumer goods donation worth over RMB 50 million to meet the demands of the areas affected by the epidemic. The donation is urgently being made to the vicinities hit by the outbreak and comprises RMB 30 million in cash and RMB 20 million worth of food, preventive equipment, and medical supplies.
A RMB 10 million donation was given to the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College for the establishment of a scientific research fund to study the novel Coronavirus, while another RMB 20 million was made to the Overseas Chinese Charity Foundation of China for the prevention of the spread of the disease in Hubei province. The money will be given to medical personnel, rescue officers, patients, and relevant organizations, and so forth. The financial distribution will be liaised by C.P. Group’s local business.
