“Dhanin Chearavanont”, Charoen Pokphand Group Co., Ltd. (C.P. Group) continues to fight against COVID-19 by announcing 2 new projects, “Growing Andrographis Paniculata”, 100 Rai, 30 million capsules in 100 days, and “Krua Pan Im”, giving away 2 million boxes of ready-to-eat meals for 2 months in 40 locations around Bangkok to support food products from small business and a subsidiary company in C.P. group.
On August 1st, 2021, Dhanin Chearavanont, Senior Chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group Co., Ltd. (C.P. Group), said that during this time of the Covid-19 epidemic crisis, the total number of the Covid-19 cases in the country today was 18,027 and the death toll was 133 people, which was considered that Thai people have been heavily affected e.g. health, illness, especially livelihood. People’s lives are what matter most during these difficult times without knowing when this crisis will be over. On the contrary, we have seen generosity and cooperation from every sector including foundations, public and private sectors, media, artists, and celebrities. Charoen Pokphand Group., Ltd. (C.P. Group) aimed to lessen Covid-19 epidemic crisis by developing 2 projects; “Krua Pan Im”, giving away 2 million boxes of ready-to-eat meals and “Growing Andrographis Paniculata”, 100 Rai, 30 million capsules in 100 days.
C.P. Group in cooperation with its business units and other sectors gave away 2 million boxes of ready-to-eat meals for 2 months in 40 locations around Bangkok. The number of ready-to-eat meals were from small and medium restaurants (1 million boxes) and another 1 million from subsidiary companies in C.P. Group. In this project, there will be a quality control in the food production including cleanliness and hygiene. The project was expected to be ready for the distribution within next week and focused on 40 locations near the community to avoid travelling and reduce the transmission of an infection.
The second project is growing Andrographis Paniculata in the area of 100 Rai for 30 million capsules in 100 days. Currently, disease prevention is very important, as well as Home Isolation also helps decrease the chance of infection, and self-care is very necessary. Thai herbs are regarded as very valuable for curing disease and it was very obvious that they are in short supply. C.P. Group, therefore, would like to take this opportunity to resolve this issue by starting the project to grow Andrographis Paniculata, 100 Rai, 30 million capsules in 100 days to give out for free. The whole process is non-toxic. Technologies will be used in generating safety and quality of the product. In terms of distribution, public health departments and agencies that have knowledge regarding the herb will take part in this step including a direction to consume properly. In addition, farmers will be encouraged to plant Andrographis Paniculata, there will be more employment for farmers to expand the results in the community for further sustainability.
In conclusion, Dhanin said that “During this crisis, encouragement is the most critical. If we have a strong body, good health and spirit, therefore, we will be able to get through this crisis because our own immunity is the only factor that can help us fight against the virus. I would like to thank every sector for working patiently with dedication, all the doctors and medical personnel who never stop working, as well as everyone who took part in this journey. These are inspiration to help our society, C.P. Group would like to thank our friends, partners, volunteers, and all sectors, who come together to do good deeds through these two projects. I believe that we can overcome this crisis together.”
