Charoen Pokphand Group launches its fourth annual Human Rights Report, highlighting efforts to create a fair, more equitable society with opportunities for all
International Human Rights Day, celebrated on December 10th, is a moment to recognize both the progress that has been made on the protection of human rights and the work that still remains. Enshrined upon the calendar to honor the adoption and proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights 76 years ago, International Human Rights Day is thus a time for reflection, commitments, and action. In this spirit, C.P. Group launched Thailand’s first Human Rights Report on this day, four years ago. Today, the Group is releasing the fourth edition of its Report, and once again reiterating our commitment to respecting human rights across all of our businesses and our supply chain.
The Report intends to outline our commitments, our progress, and the challenges we face in order to enhance transparency and engage with stakeholders across our operations. According to the Group’s CEO, Mr. Suphachai Chearavanont, “This report underscores our unwavering commitment to human rights, sustainability, and the well-being of the communities we serve.”
“For over a century, our journey has been guided by our core values, strong community connections, and a dedication to continuous improvement and innovation. At the heart of our approach is the Three-Benefits Principle, which emphasizes prioritizing the welfare of the countries and communities we operate in, alongside our own interests. This principle focuses on three key areas: ensuring our operations contribute positively to the national economy and society, supporting the well-being and development of the communities and individuals we interact with, and achieving sustainable growth and success for our business. By adhering to these principles, we have expanded our workforce to over 450,000 employees across 21 countries. Our commitment to these values drives us to promote sustainable growth and uphold human rights throughout our entire value chain.”
This year’s report highlights the Group’s efforts to create a workplace that is inclusive and equitable for all - by breaking down barriers and empowering our employees. With leadership programs to develop a new generation of young leaders, we hope to create a future management with diverse perspectives and skillsets. Furthermore, working with international organizations like the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s Business Commission to Tackle Inequality, we have developed internal and external programs to address inequality and drive inclusion.
With many uncertainties on the horizon due to geopolitical conflicts and the climate crisis, it is ever more important for us to commit to protecting and promoting the rights of all within our value chains. C.P. Group hopes that with the launch of this report, we can enhance our cooperation with all stakeholders for a better tomorrow.
