Mr. Suphachai Chearavanont, CEO of CP Group, attended the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 in Davos, Switzerland, held from January 20-24, 2025. Recognized as one of the most influential global platforms for economics and social development, WEF brought together over 3,000 political and business leaders from around the world to exchange perspectives and lay the foundation for shaping the world's future. This year's theme, “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age,” reflects the growing importance of cooperation in an era where technology and artificial intelligence (AI) play pivotal roles across all dimensions of society and the economy.

Highlighting the significance of this forum, Mr. Suphachai stated, “WEF is not only a platform that reflects global transformation trends but also a vital space for Thai businesses to update themselves on global trends and exchange perspectives with leaders across sectors, from governments to private organizations and NGOs.”

In an era where AI is transforming every sector, Mr. Suphachai emphasized that AI is no longer a threat to labor but rather a crucial tool for building an “Inclusive Economy”—one that reduces disparities and promotes equality across economic, financial, educational, and healthcare systems.

“AI doesn’t just change how we work; it can reform entire economic systems, enhance business efficiency, and drive governance in technology utilization,” he said. He further stressed that ethical AI governance will be a cornerstone of sustainable economic development in the future.

Additionally, Mr. Suphachai identified clean energy as a global game-changer. He highlighted the critical importance of clean energy as a major challenge for the world, particularly the role of nuclear fusion and the development of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), which are increasingly viewed as technologies that could revolutionize global energy production.

“Integrating clean energy into the economy not only reduces environmental impact but also enhances the long-term competitiveness of nations and businesses,” said Mr. Suphachai.

Regarding Thailand’s challenges and opportunities on the global trade stage, Mr. Suphachai shared his perspective on the country's adaptation amidst rapidly shifting global dynamics. He particularly emphasized the need to consider all dimensions in response to potential new global trade policies that might arise under a “Trump 2.0” scenario.

“Thailand has the potential to become an investment hub, the ‘Switzerland of Asia,’ due to its strong relationships with both the United States and China. This positioning can lead to balanced trade, the promotion of soft power, and the stimulation of tourism, one of the country’s key strengths,” said Mr. Suphachai.
