The World Business Council on Sustainable Development (WBCSD) convenes the Business Commission to Tackle Inequality (BCTI), which brings together global businesses and experts including Alan Jope, Unilever Chief Executive Officer, Sunny Verghese, Co-Founder and CEO of Olam International, and Sanjiv Puri, President and Managing Director of ITC, came together to tackle the problem. inequality and reducing inequality
At the meeting, WBCSD Chairman and Chief Executive, Peter Becker, outlined three key goals of the Commission: 1) To incite business focus on addressing the issue of ideology; 2) To create cooperation in identifying problems and fostering cooperation in taking action; and 3) To create spaces for exchanges of ideas to address inequality problems in a formal manner.
Mr. Noppadol Dej-Udom, Chief Sustainability Officer at Charoen Pokphand Group, a representative from the Thai business sector said, “Charoen Pokphand Group intends to jointly support the importance of tackling inequality through cooperation with leading global companies. We are willing to work with stakeholders at all levels throughout the supply chain, in order to reduce inequalities within the organization, the society and at the global scale through this cooperation.”
