Public-Private Partnership Project for Development and Restoration of Nan Watershed Forests
Charoen Pokphand Group has joined efforts with the Internal Security Operations Command in Nan province, Nan Provincial Coordination Center, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, and Nan Irrigation Project to carry out the “Public-Private Partnership Project for Development and Restoration of Nan Watershed Forests” to improve the grassroot economy in communities. The project also enables the use of community plans as tools to appropriately and sustainably manage lives as well as resources, such as water, soil and forests, for maximum benefits. It also supports agricultural practices that are suitable for the terrain, social conditions and culture of each locality. Such practices focus on the restoration of watershed forests in Nan province and quality of life enhancement for locals of the targeted areas by promoting the concept of mutual dependence between human and forests as well as encouraging the cultivation of plants that rely on low water quantity, such as bamboo, banana, coffee, etc., to reduce the use of chemicals. The project has contributed to uplifting and creating economic and social values in local communities for stability and sustainability.
