Enhancing Maize Farmers to Replace Stubble Burning with Plowing to Reduce Dust and Smog

22 August 2024

Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited and CP Group’s Animal Feed Raw Material Trading Business Unit have collaborated with partners and farmers to create a sustainable corn production supply chain while addressing the issue of PM 2.5 dust through the "Self-Reliant Farmers, Sustainable Corn" project. This initiative involves changing cultivation practices, optimizing fertilizer use according to soil conditions, and eliminating the burning of crop residues after harvest. These efforts help farmers reduce costs associated with fertilizers and soil conditioners. Additionally, the company has established special purchase points closer to farming areas to reduce the number of transportation trips to factories, thereby decreasing dust generated during the transport of produce. The company also engages directly with farmers to share knowledge and provides easy access to information anytime, anywhere through online media channels and the "For Farm" application. Beyond encouraging business partners and farmers to collaborate in reducing dust within the corn production supply chain, the company is also committed to sourcing agricultural raw materials free from deforestation and actively protecting biodiversity. The company employs a traceability system to ensure compliance.
