C.P. Group CEO Supachai Chearavanont joins COP26’s side event, reaffirming Net Zero commitment and urging the business sector to accelerate investment into climate technologies.
As part of the 26th United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change conference, or COP26, organized in Glasgow, UK, the Thai government is hosting a “Climate Action Leader Forum 2021” as a side event through an online platform at the Thai Pavilion. The Forum invited thought-leaders from numerous organizations in Thailand, including government agencies, the private sector, and civil society organizations, to share their visions on the journey towards climate resilience, focusing on the global effort to prevent the world’s average temperature rise from exceeding 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial level.
Suphachai Chearavanont, CEO of Charoen Pokphand Group Co., Ltd, participated via videoconference on the panel “Business Leaders to Share Vision and Experiences on Net-zero Transformation” while Chief Sustainability Officer Noppadol Dej-Udom spoke on the panel “Thailand Carbon Neutral Network: Climate Action Partnership towards Carbon Neutrality".
Mr Suphachai reaffirmed commitment of C.P. Group as a LEAD member of the UN Global Compact to achieve Zero Food Waste and Net Zero Emissions targets by 2030, emphasizing the Group’s renewable energy development and climate mitigation actions across all countries of its operations. In addition, Mr Noppadol highlighted C.P. Group’s century-old tradition of innovation and social and environmental responsibility, providing concrete examples of current initiatives within the Group’s value chain to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through technologies in precision agriculture, energy efficiency and renewable energy.
